Track Name: Sanity
You and I are designed to bend
flex our mendable muscles
slings to hold us when we're broken
we have our bodies and our modern medicines
scrapes and bruises designed to mend
but behind our smiles
all we can do is hide
all we can do is:

Sanity, will you remember me when I am gone.
Gone away.

All we are is cages of atoms
behind the bars of bones
sequestered secrets in the solitary silence of our souls
subtle stirring and we keep silent
and our secrets sound like SIRENS in the depths of our minds
all we can do is hide
all we can do is:

Sanity, will you remember me when I am gone.
Gone away.

I know what you've been thinking
sneaky yearnings you hold dear to your diaries
don't let them leave
your brain to paper
'cause suppose someone finds them
and they think your crazy
we all follow a code of confidentiality
in the depths of our lives
all we can do is hide
all we can do is:

Sanity, will you remember me when I am gone.
Gone away.
Track Name: Desolation
The night keeps rolling in
it whispers in my brain
telling me
things
i am believing
like i should disappear
nobody would even notice
if i went missing
'cause my body's just ONE number
in a long line of something
in no time we
will all be forgotten
like stories said yesterday
in anger and fear
they are still
there
lurking in my memory
knowing that i feel their stings

like wind against my tears
they still feel the way
the earth is cracked and crying
like sorrow in my skin
thats wounded but drying

But, I wake up with air
I never have to wonder
if she's there
'cause i breathe her
I wake up with air
she swirls and she stares
and for a moment
she will spare
my desolation.

The dust is calling
wants me to return to it
from ashes i was born
meant to be a phoenix
but the colors of my plumage
i've never seen them blooming
and i wonder if it's late or
to never come at all
when i fall i fall
'cause i only fake my flight
so when you look out the window
it doesn't look like i am flailing
i'm nothing
i am nothing
i am nothing...

But, I wake up with air
I never have to wonder
if she's there
'cause i breathe her
I wake up with air
she swirls and she stares
and for a moment
she will spare
my desolation.
Track Name: The Story of a Moth
I had a dream
of big blue wings
that folded and molded back into a chrysalis
tied to a string
around her finger
when i see them
i only see backwards
like mirrors into mirrors
do you see me at all:
a tiny moth with a great big heart
and a really small body.

they flap their wings
so they can't be seen
for who they are
just who they want to be
an allusive memory
shrouded in longing for a story
before they fall asleep
for eyes that find their safety
in their way through the darkness

If you were a hand
and I were a moth
then I would fly
'cause you and I are only divided
by the number of times
we've danced around the sun.

do you believe in second lives
because i've known you many more
than one lifetime time -
I was born from a seed
then i became a slipper in the trees
and I dream that one day:
you will be my family.

If you were a hand
and I were a moth
then I would fly
'cause you and I are only divided
by the number of times
we've danced around the sun.
Track Name: Departed
You're passing into light
I can see it in your breathing
and she is reading the words of your lover
they sound like a whisper

and your family is here
they are holding your hand
and they give you all the love
for which your soul will stand
beneath the cosmos.

and 8 billion galaxies
await your magnanimity
as you rest your eyes to them
and let go of the gravity

You will not be gone from here
a mere shapeshifter your mind becomes matter
and your spirit remains ever near
in the many chambers of my heart
you will not be departed.

There's a nebula in the heaven
that holds a place for your sigh
and the light that once resided in your eyes
may it travel with you
and keep you safe as you go home
you're going home

A door is open
with rays that pour in
to dissolve the darkness
of your mortal suffering
you step into the borders of transient existence
and thats met with audible resistance
to this and to the next appearance
i will see that familiar feeling
and i will miss you
in the time being
i will miss you.

You will not be gone from here
a mere shapeshifter your mind becomes matter
and your spirit remains ever near
in the many chambers of my heart
you will not be departed.
Track Name: The Earth Mother's Children
I saw a picture of bodies on the news
pigments of their faces
and the anger in the wounds
we have covered
'cause its easy to ignore if you have got the power
and it's easy to reject if you have only ever been the oppressor

we will only see when its our son or our daughter
we will only feel if it's our sister or our brother
but it's more than a screen -
it's human beings and we can turn off the TV
but we can't block out the screaming

'Cause the Earth Mother
cries for the pain of her children
lying on her land
and the Earth Mother
aches for the blood of her children
as she holds them in her hand.

We say that we're not racist but then diminish the experience
of people that don't look like us
would you get it if you were there? would you open up your eyes
if you had no place to hide...
'Cause the cities and the sidewalks try to cover up the earth
but the power that you have
to dust it will return

'Cause the Earth Mother
cries for the pain of her children
lying on her land
and the Earth Mother
aches for the blood of her children
as she holds them in her hand.

The faces of this system are bathed in white
but the colors of injustice are creating a light that will blind you...
the laws of this nation and the stories we've created
are a culture of suppression of non-caucasian
and the cities and the sidewalks try to cover up the earth
but the power you've abused to DUST it will return...

'Cause the Earth Mother
cries for the pain of her children
lying on her land
and the Earth Mother
aches for the blood of her children
as she holds them in her hand.
